Trespass is a narrative short film based in Northern Ireland. It is based in two different time periods. The first is 1976, in which the Troubles are taking place in the province. The second is the modern day, where it is a time of piece. The film follows Terry, who loses his father when a masked gunman shoots him dead in front of his family. Years later, Terry tracks down the killer to enact his revenge. But - the killer is now an old man, and Terry struggles to go through the act without losing himself in the process.
The film deals with the ripple effect of violence in the context of a post-conflict society. It presents the pain and anger that many people carry to this day, but it also presents what's at stake with future generations and how peace and forgiveness is the only way forward. But peace is bitter sweet, and grief never fades away - and the film reflects that. 

About Trespass

I, Desmond Lynch, produced this production alongside Olivia Beatty. We had worked on two different short films before this and we were looking forward to getting a chance to work with each other again. Especially given the powerful story, the amazing cast and crew.
We want to keep telling powerful stories like Trespass and share it across the world. 

The Trespass Team

A young boy witnesses the murder of his father on his doorstep in Belfast, 1976. As an older man he works his way into the home of the man who shot his father dead, and when faced with the opportunity to wreak his own revenge he's interrupted by the old man's granddaughter. Faced with the guilt of passing on his own pain to the young child, he relents and leaves the pair in peace
