The Test is a finalist in the short screenplay competition inspired by the writers father's time as an autoworker and his complicated path to promotion and growth within the company. This script is a testament to his intelligence and wit in honor of his memory and legacy since his passing in 2024.
Writer: Seckeita Lewis is a writer, director and producer from the South Side of Chicago, now based in the Dallas Fort Worth area. After years of developing stories for brands in Corporate Marketing, she co-founded Lewis Taylor Productions with her husband, Brandon Lewis and developed and directed her first feature film, Jerico. This inaugural film went on to win 14 festival awards, including 5 best films and a Best New Director Award. Seckeita’s second feature, ImPossible, debuted at the 30th Austin Film Festival, screening at 7 festivals and winning 2 best films and an audience choice award. ImPossible is a recipient of Panavision’s New Filmmaker Grant, Austin Film Society’s North Texas Pioneer Grant and is supported with fiscal sponsorship from The Film Collaborative. Seckeita is now focused on continuing growth as a writer, exploring concepts across multiple genres. She has seen success having placed as a semifinalist and second rounder at the Austin Film Festival in 2024 and 2023 respectively and winning best short at the Cordillera Film Festival 2023.
